Andreas Vesalius was a 16th century physician who was a revolutionary in the field of human anatomy. Based on observations from human dissections, Vesalius overturned centuries of established medical dogma with his seven volume treatise entitled De humani corporis fabrica libri septem. In my design for a conversation space with Vesalius, I decided to model it after a theater, a reference to Vesalius's favorite dissection location. The seating and stage of the theater is landscaped ground, while the built portion of the structure is modeled after a muscle, transitioning from tight, structural braids to a more organized space defined by small brackets acting as combs for the structure's fibers.
